"I love that"

has there ever been a more dangerous set of words

the things we love become centers of gravity on this spinning planet that we pull closer too

and we sit by or look at and turn over in our fingers by the campfire of our own eyes

until the world around us grows dark and our obsession remains

we are not awakened and alive

we are hiding in a cave of our own desires and circular thoughts about love

this too is how we stay safe, especially for those of us who as kids

felt a lot of pain

some of us crawl out from under the weight of our own thoughts about it all in our 20s, 30s, 40s, others their 50s, and so on

perhaps this is our purpose

to let go of our obsessions like a child puts down a block

there is a whole world out there

if we can muster the courage to believe that it could be good
